Research project: developing an education framework

Professions Australia's Knowledge Network is a means for professionals:
- to access online material of value to them in their work or to their professional association (Knowledge Base)
- to link up with other professionals who have valuable experience and knowledge to pass on (Knowledge People)
- to work online with other professionals with the aim particularly of developing policy positions on matters of importance to professionals (Knowledge Talk).
Knowledge Network at present is available only to members of constituent organisations of Professions Australia. We are looking at ways of extending availability to others, perhaps on a pay-per-view basis.
You may view a sample of Knowledge Network here.
Knowledge Base
Knowledge Base is being developed all the time. If you would like to submit an item, you can access instructions here and a form here.
At present, Knowledge Base is arranged under six headings:
More headings will be added later.
There is a search facility which will help you find your way to items in your area of interest. At this stage, many of the items are complete websites, particularly websites of other organisations representing professionals. As Knowledge Base develops it will contain more links to individual articles.
Knowledge People
This section of our website is expected to be available in August 2003.
Knowledge People allows professionals to link up with each other to exchange useful knowledge and information. You can access a form here to submit your personal details, availability and areas of interest.
Knowledge People can be used in two ways.
If you are able to provide time, online or offline, to pass on your story to people with similar projects in hand or issues to address, then use the form to outline briefly your expertise and interests.
If, on the other hand, you are looking for someone who may have dealt in the recent past with projects and issues similar to yours and would like to tap their experience, use the form to briefly describe the type of information you need.
Knowledge Talk
Knowledge Talk is a moderated online discussion group. Professions Australia will post specific questions from time to time upon which we will seek contributions from members of constituent organisations.
The question for discussion may be accompanied by a brief issues paper or list of questions. Each discussion will remain open for a designated time, say, one to two months.
Each discussion will have an objective, for example, to update Professions Australia's policy on a specific policy or to prepare a submission to government against published terms of reference.
As Knowledge Talk develops we hope to provide a facility for members of constituent organisations to host their discussion topics. We are investigating 'renting' secure space for this purpose.
